Lists of AI stocks to buy are everywhere, and almost none of them check the filings. A 10-K tells you how often a company talks about AI, how its R&D spend moves, and whether the AI talk is backed by anything at all. Filings are audited and dated. Listicles are neither. Start with filings and half the hype in AI investing disappears on its own.
Take 3M. Its FY2026 10-K mentions AI 16 times, up from 8 the year before, a 100% jump, backed by $700M in R&D. That is a real data point you can verify yourself. Most AI stock lists give you vibes instead of numbers. You can pull the same filing from SEC EDGAR in about thirty seconds and check the count yourself.
GPTTicker counted AI mentions across 988 filings from 499 S&P 500 companies, with year-over-year change and an AI-wash score for each. Start your research there, not on a listicle. The inputs are public and the method is transparent, which beats any ranked list.

If the filing does not back the story, the story is just a story.
